Baptism joins us with the Church in a rebirth as sons and daughters of God. Through this Sacrament we receive the gift of eternal life. Parents pledge to raise their children in the Roman Catholic faith and to journey along with them. Our parish community joyfully welcomes our newest members.
- Parents are encouraged to call the parish office (973-694-4585) at least six (6) weeks in advance to make arrangements.
- Parents must be registered parishioners and express a desire to take part regularly in the life and worship of the parish.
- Parents are expected to meet for Baptismal Preparation including a meeting with the priest or deacon who will be celebrating the Sacrament after attending a Baptism Preparation session at the home of one of the Baptism Preparation Lay Team couples.
- Baptisms are celebrated at our weekend Masses by the Priest and on designated Sundays at 1:30 PM by our Deacons. Please contact the parish office for the schedule. Remember that Baptisms are not celebrated during Lent.
- Godparents represent the community in their responsibility to give good Christian example to their Godchild. Therefore, both godparents must be Christian, 16 years of age or older and must have a sponsor letter from their own parish. One godparent must be a Confirmed Catholic. There are only 1 or 2 godparents – one male and one female.
