Blessing Cup Program

The Blessing Cup symbolizes for us the blessing that priests and religious are to us in our lives.  The Cup is a symbol of life – a life poured out of service.  As Christians we believe in the great power of united prayer and so we know the importance of praying for vocations to the priesthood and religious life.

The Vocation Committee of Our Lady of the Valley Parish is reinstating the Blessing Cup program to foster a greater awareness of the need for vocations to the priesthood or religious life.  We invite active participation in a prayer program by our parish households.  Any Parish household, Religious Education class or OLV School class may participate in this program. 

Each week at Mass a household will accept the responsibility of praying for vocations and placing the Blessing Cup in a prominent place in their home such as the kitchen or dining room table.  A prayer booklet, consisting of readings and daily activities will accompany the chalice.  The household will receive the chalice after communion and keep it in their home for the following week and return it to the church prior to Saturday evening 5PM Mass at the end of that week.
