Both programs are affiliated with Boy Scouts of America and offer young men a chance to learn about nature, science, the outdoors, crafts, camping, and most of all citizenship and respect of the individual. What is special about having these organizations within the parish is that religious values can also be strengthened and reinforced.

Our Lady of the Valley has had an active Girl Scouting organization since 1986 and currently has over 75 active girl scouts. This program reinforces the Girl Scout Promise: “...to serve God, our country, help people at all times and live by the Girl Scout Law.” Girl Scout groups extend from kindergarten through the eighth grade. Kindergarten: Daisies; First through third grade: Brownies; Fourth through sixth grade: Jr. Girl Scouts; Seventh and eighth grade: Cadettes.

OLV makes available to all parishioners a program of concentrated scripture study. Meeting weekly they read and reflect on the Sacred Scripture, both Old and New Testaments, while striving to grow in the life of faith.

The program is designed to bring people to a greater understanding of the Bible, as well as an appreciation of how the Bible can be applied to daily life. Each week, prayer and group sharing develops and clarifies the themes covered in the lesson. Bible commentaries and Study Sets are supplied. All ages are welcome.

Stewardship arises from our Baptismal call to serve in the name of Christ. We are all gifted with faith in Our Lord Jesus Christ as well as with an abundance of blessings to share with our brothers and sisters in the human family. The Stewardship Committee focuses on leading the people of OLV parish to an ongoing conversion experience of stewardship to acknowledge that all is gift and to a greater awareness to give back to God of our time, talent and treasure.

This organization acts as a liaison between the diocesan Vocation Awareness Committee and the parish. Lay people take seriously their role in promoting and encouraging vocations. Names of those interested in vocations are submitted to the committee. These interested people are invited to a monthly gathering, sponsored by the diocese, for dinner and informed chat to create additional interest and answer questions about religious life.

The primary function is to develop and maintain a web site for the parish that includes information on current events, the liturgical and sacramental policies, the Ministries, a monthly calendar, the Sunday bulletin, and pictures and email addresses of the parish staff. Other areas being developed include a history of the parish, an audio replay of the Sunday homilies and web pages devoted to the youth and religious education.

This ministry has been created to add a personal dimension to gathering God’s people into our parish family. Current members extend a welcoming hand, smile and an invitation to worship at OLV. At various times throughout the year we will hold social gatherings for our new members including those who have been away for a while so they can get to know our parishioners on a deeper level and feel more comfortable when they come to church.

Blessed with a large and energetic group of youthful leaders, our parish Youth Group sponsors a variety of events for our teenage parishioners including the very popular Antioch weekend. The group meets every Wednesday night from 7-9PM in the Parish Center. All high school students, freshmen through seniors, are welcome to join us.
